Reception children

Please can children in Reception bring in a book folder rather than a rucksack as it is easier for staff to check for letters in folders and for storage in the classroom.

Census Day

Thursday 3 October is National School Census Day.  We would be very grateful if your child had a school lunch on this day as it impacts our funding. 

Break Time Snacks

Please make sure that, if you are sending a snack in for your KS2 child to have at break time, they are having fruit or vegetables only.

October Holiday Camp

Please remember to book your place on the October half-term holiday camp through your ParentPay account if you would like your child/children to attend. The camp will be held at school and places can be booked for the entire week or for individual days. We will need more children to attend for the club to take place.

Harvest Festival

Our Harvest Festival takes place at St Paul’s Church on 8^th October at 9.05am. The service is for children in Years 1-6. Reception children need to come to school as normal. As always, we will be supporting the North Enfield Food Bank and have included below their requests for donations.

I am aware that recently we have asked for a number of different donations and are very grateful to all our parents who have also been so generous in purchasing items from our gift lists. We fully understand if you are unable to make any further donations towards our Harvest Festival.

Collective Worship

This half-term, we are following the London Diocesan Board of Schools cycle of Collective worship based around themes from the Bible readings in Church each week. Here are some suggested questions and prayers which you may wish to use with your children at home.

This week

Themes drawn from James 3:13-4:3,7-8 and Mark 9:30-37:

• Wisdom and humility

Questions:

• What do you think is better to be wise or to be clever? Why?
• What’s the wisest thing you have ever done or said?
• Who is the wisest person you know?
• What is it about them that makes you think they are wise?
• Have you ever asked God to help you make a wise decision or help you be wise in what you say?

Challenge:

How could you serve someone this week? Take their tray back at lunch? Wash up or load the dishwasher? Help carry a shopping bag or put away groceries?

Prayer:

Lord God, you have promised wisdom to anyone who asks for it. I ask for wisdom this week in what I say and do, Amen.

• Invite someone to join you at lunchtime if they are on their own.

Some religious festivals and holy days coming up

Sports News

The year 6 boys’ football team got their season off to a great start, winning all 3 of their matches at Edmonton County 2-1, 2-0 and 2-0. The boys played some excellent football in the torrential rain and represented the school really well with their sportsmanship. A big thank you to FOSPS and Martyn Gerrard for our awesome new kits. Well done!

Reception - The Colour Monster

Reception have been reading The Colour Monster to teach us more about our emotions and how to regulate them. They then made some wonderful creations following this. Very artistic!

Year 1 - Geography

In geography, the children have been learning about the local area. They explored the school grounds, carrying out simple fieldwork, looking at the features visible from the school grounds. The children identified many human and physical features and, using their observations, they all decided our school is in an urban setting.

Year 2 - Science (Habitats)

This week in Science, Year 2 students ventured into "woody" habitats as part of their exploration of different ecosystems. They observed various creatures, such as insects, spiders, and small animals, learning about their unique adaptations for living in wooded areas. The students also discussed the importance of these habitats in providing food, shelter, and protection for wildlife. Through hands-on exploration, they gained a deeper understanding of how animals and plants interact in their natural environments.

Year 5 - Sport

Year 5 have had a sporty start to the year, enjoying a football session delivered by Tottenham Hotspur, an athletics session delivered by Athletics England and also many children tried out for a cross-country competition. Well done to those who got selected to represent the school at Forty Hall.
