Celebrating our Cultures Week

Next week the children will be taking part in a number of different activities to help celebrate the different cultures of our school community. Thank you to those parents who have offered to come into school and help during the week. Children are able to come in non-uniform on Friday, wearing something to reflect their culture / nationality, this could be a t-shirt of a particular colour or a whole outfit.

Well done St Paul's!

We received the wonderful news that we are one of 4 Enfield primary schools who have been included in the most recent The Sunday Times Parent Power 2024 league table and are placed amongst the top 500 primary schools (out of over 16,500) in the country. Well done and thank you to all our governors, teachers, support staff, pupils and parents who work together to achieve such positive outcomes.

Annual services

A reminder that the KS1 Annual Service will take place at St Paul’s Church on Thursday 16 May at 2.30pm. Parents/Carers are welcome to join us. Children will need to be picked up from church at approximately 3.00pm. Those children attending Extra Club will be walked back to school.

The KS2 Annual Service will also take place on Thursday 16 May at 6pm. All KS2 children are expected to attend this service. Please contact Mrs Cresswell if you have any questions about attendance at the service.

Congratulations...

to all the children who took part in the mini marathon at the weekend, they all did brilliantly and we are very proud.

Well done to some of our parents who ran the London Marathon on Sunday and Mrs Blundell who completed the marathon in under 4 hours, an amazing achievement.

Free School Meals - Y6 going to Y7

Please read the notice below from Enfield Council:

For parents of children who currently receive free school meals in Year 6, who will transfer to secondary school in September 2024:

Please follow the guidance below regarding free school meals at secondary transfer:

In most cases, if your child is transferring to a secondary school in Enfield their free school meal entitlement will automatically transfer to your accepted secondary school in September 2024, you do not need to make a new application for free school meals for secondary transfer. 

However, there are a few secondary schools in Enfield who manage their own process for free school meals, they are: 

Aim North London

Ark John Keats

Oasis Academy Enfield

Oasis Academy Hadley

Wren Academy Enfield 

If you have accepted a secondary school place at one of the above schools. 

For your child’s free school meal entitlement to continue, please contact the school directly for advice on their application process.

If you have accepted a secondary school place in one of the neighbouring Boroughs.

For example: Barnet, Cheshunt, Haringey etc.  For your child’s free school meal entitlement to continue, please contact the Local Authority where the school is located, or the school directly for advice on their application process.

When your child starts their new school in September 2024.

If they do not receive their free school meal entitlement. Please speak to the school as early in the term as possible, to let them know your child received free school meals at primary school and ask them to investigate this for you.

Growing flowers

During lunchtime club, children from different year groups sowed flower seeds. The children will look after them in their classrooms until the seedlings are strong enough to prick out and pot on. We hope to see some flowers during the summer and when we return to school in September.

North London’s Big Fun Art Adventure

St Paul's is now part of a very exciting fundraising project! We are raising money for the North London Hospice, an organisation that does amazing work in our community.

The North London Hospice has partnered with Wild in Art to create a trail of sculptures throughout North London. Owls were chosen for the sculptures because they represent the passing on of knowledge and stories. As a school, we will be painting one of these sculptures and families will be able to visit it during the summer holidays. Eventually, our sculpture will return to school to stay for good!

Reception - Planting Seeds

Reception have been busy doing some planting in the outdoor area. They planted a range of wild flowers and some sunflower seeds too. We talked about what the seeds will need to help them grow and how we will need to be patient to watch them grow over the next few weeks.

Year 1 - Science

We have started looking at animals in our world. We started by using our own criteria for sorting different animals into groups. Some of the groups we came up with were ‘animals that live on a farm’, ‘animals with stripes’, animals who live in the water.

Year 2 - Football with Tottenham Hotspur

This week, our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a training session led by coaches from Tottenham Hotspur. Throughout the session, the children enthusiastically learned various ball skills, such as ball control, drop and kick, and ball-eye coordination. Their behaviour was exemplary, displaying exceptional manners and respect towards the coaches. It's evident that this experience has ignited a newfound passion for football amongst the students.

Year 3 - TTRS Day

Year 3 have had an exciting day dressed as rockstars for their TTRS day. We’ve done lots of times tables games, activities and competitions throughout the day to help learn our times tables.

 

Year 4 - Football with Tottenham Hotspur as well!

Year 4 had a great time during their training session with Tottenham Hotspur. They took part in a range of football drills and games, and even got to play a couple of matches.

Year 5 - Living Things and Their Habitats

In Year 5 we have started our new Biology unit, Living Things and their Habitats. In our first Science lesson, we dissected tulips and identified the organs to help us answer the question, ‘How do flowering plants produce seeds?’  The children learnt about the life cycle of flowering plants and we revisited pollination and seed formation. They enjoyed taking off the sepals, petals and leaves to identify the stamen and the carpel parts of the flower.

Year 6 - Netball Team's victory

The year 6 netball team took part in a match against Edmonton County and are proud to say they secured a 4-1 win.  All their hard work and dedication has paid off and they thoroughly enjoyed playing together.  Martha (6D) and Inca (6D) scored some fantastic goals!
